17/02/05 13:52 - Bonzer Entry - Jamie Cullum (UPDATED: 15/03/06 - 17:43)

Jamie Cullum is the first British Jazz artist to sign a £1 million contract, his album, 'TwentySomething',
went platinum in various countries and is my biggest love next to Bam Margera, 'next', being the operative
word, they walk hand-in-hand for me.

For those of you who don't know Jamie Cullum, he is quite simply a 'Jazz hobbit', to elaborate in his words,
'TwentySomething' is from a pop perspective, but it's not watered down, smooth jazz, it's very much in the
Jazz tradition. Jamie prostitutes Jazz for his own evil ends, but whether you are a Jazz fan or someone who
is into popular music, chances are you will like this man. Jamie Cullum is a good entry point into Jazz, if
so inclined. I have always liked to have a bit of Jazz around, so Jamie was welcomed with open arms.

Albums available: Pointless Nostalgic, TwentySomething, Catching Tails

DVDs: Live at Blenheim Palace.

21/05/05 19:57 - Bonzer Entry - The Angry Video Game Nerd (UPDATED: 11/09/07 - 07:51)

So I have found this guy from America who seems to feel the same way I do about hours I have spent
during my childhood playing s****y games. Even though it was the late 80's early 90's he and I are
still p****d, yep the rage is relentless.

If you are a gamer he is worth checking out, he has a catchy intro song put together by a musician called
Kyle Justin and reviews the hideous games of our past. He originally was 'The Angry NINTENDO Nerd', but
due to copyright laws had to change it to something more general.

These videos are not for the faint of heart and you must be fully proficient in handling bad language, it's
all part of the nerd charm. So grab a beer, sit back and click on the link below to enjoy many game reviews
by this extremely switched on individual.

DVDs: It is rumoured that one is on its way so watch this space.

04/08/05 01:26 - Bonzer Entry - Ctrl Alt Del a.k.a CAD (UPDATED: 11/09/07 - 08:45)

Ever heard of 'The Church of Gaming'? No? What about 'Winter-een-mas'? No? What the hell!? Well then
you defiantly need to read on. If you are like me and totally obsessed with gaming (not sure if that
comes across on Laila Mania), then you need to be reading this online comic in your spare time.

Ctrl Alt Del is an aptly named comic for the gamers of the world, a whole comic about someone
who eats, breaths and s**ts gaming. Ethen works in a Video Game Store who lives with his friend
Lucas. This surprisingly funny and original comic is worth checking regularly.

I guess I most identify with Lilah as her adventures through gaming, being a female, seem to closely
reflect my own. It can be frustrating and at times ruin an online gaming experience when you are a
female being discovered for the first time by 'other' gamers.

There is now a whole range of merchandise and even an animated series. The founder and creator Tim
Buckley is right up there with James Rolfe and the guy who gave me a job at Nintendo. I truly love
this online comic and the fore-mentioned people.

23/06/06 18:18 - Bonzer Entry - Calvin & Hobbes

I discovered Calvin and Hobbes when I was about 8 and it's been my favourite comic strip ever since. Far
Side is good, but nothing compared to this. Created by Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes has been a
worldwide favourite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of
Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of
time-travel (with the aid of a well-labelled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight
you.

Books available: Calvin and Hobbes, Something Under the Bed Is Drooling, Yukon Ho, Weirdos From
Another Planet, The Revenge Of The Baby-Sat, Scientific Progress Goes 'Boink': A Calvin and Hobbes
Collection, Attack Of The Deranged Mutant Killer Monster Snow Goons, The Days are Just Packed: A Calvin
and Hobbes Collection, Homicidal Psycho Jungle Cat: A Calvin and Hobbes Collection, There's Treasure
Everywhere--A Calvin and Hobbes Collection, It's A Magical World: A Calvin and Hobbes Collection.
Better yet you can now buy the complete collection in one boxset.

23/08/06 03:26 - Bonzer Entry - Homestar Runner

This is one of my favourite web sites on the internet, I visit regularly to check out the new e-mails,
cartoons and games. It's a great, colourful, funny site. Wikipedia described the site as follows:

Homestar Runner is a Flash cartoon series. It mixes an absurdist sense of humour with copious references
to 1980s and 1990s pop culture, notably video games, classic television and popular music. Although
originally conceived as a book written for children, the series is most popular with American
college/university students and young adults, though it is also slowly gaining popularity in the UK,
mainly with adolescents.

If you visit this site I strong recommend you click on 'Come on in', then 'First time here?' It's funny
and gives you an idea of what to expect from this site.

03/10/06 12:04 - Bonzer Entry - Léon

Léon I think is my favourite movie ever, and I have seen a lot of films before and since and nothing has
been able to knock it off my 1st place.

Written and directed by Luc Besson and released in 1994, this was the movie that put Natalie Portman
on the map and frankly it's still her best work. It also starred Jean Reno and Gary Oldman two of
the finest actors ever to grace our screens.

The plot is that Léon is a hitman and Mathilda is a young girl who persuades him to take her in as she has
no family. When she finds out that he is a hitman she tries to have Léon teach her how to be a hitman so
that she may avenge her brother's murder.

A must see even for those who are not normally attracted to hitman movies, I promise this film won't
disappoint.

15/12/06 19:01 - Bonzer Entry - Llamas

I don't know where to start with my love for llamas and frankly I am shocked and appalled that
it took me so long to get them a mention here. I go to the zoo at least once a year to see the llamas
I have toy ones on my pc desk and nobody can tell me that they can look at a picture of a llama
without smiling.

These amazingly social animals like to be in herds and live in South America, they are often used as
backpack animals, but if you’re not careful they might just spit in your face, truly wonderful!

19/02/07 16:51 - Bonzer Entry - Sylvanian Families

Since the 80's I have been collecting Sylvanian Families, my personal collection is rather vast and
I am still slowly collecting them.

By 1988 they became a world success and made Toy of the Year various years in a row...I forget how
many. I remember, it was three years in a row.

I don't think I will ever tire from collecting them, maybe one day I shall place a picture on here
of the vast collection.

LONG LIVE SYLVANIAN FAMILIES...was there ever a llama family?

26/05/07 18:18 - Bonzer Entry - Will Wright

I guess it's no surprise to see this guy here. This man has single headedly nurtured my creative
streak, from what started as a mild interest, exploded when I discovered Sim City. There aren't many
sim games I haven't played, or theme, or tycoon and all the rest of it.

Every big gaming dream I think of this man makes for me, and he doesn't just make the game
he blows the game out of the water and makes it better then I ever thought it could be. My days are
spent waiting for Spore, I am busting my gut to play that game, I've only been waiting a couple of
years and I can wait for a couple more...I fear it may consume me like the sims has.

01/09/07 21:20 - Bonzer Entry - Battle Beast

When growing up myself and my childhood friend had many Battle Beast, we used to spend a lot
of days in the garden playing with these amazingly fun little toys.

Every Battle Beast had a heat sensitive pad that revealed a symbol of water, fire or wood and in some
very rare occasions a sun. Each came with their own weapon and only stood about an inch off the ground.

There were loads of these toys along with variants, rare Battle Beast and vehicles, in addtion there was
even a show and a magazine. Today the only place you can find them for sale is on e-Bay and it can be
very hard to find one with both weapon and heat sensitive pad in tact.

02/10/07 07:03 - Bonzer Entry - Clangers

Here is another childhood favourite of mine, of course I'm not old enough to remember them the
first time round (that would be my dad), but Clangers I believe is a timeless classic. No matter
when a child is born they will love this little kid's show, in fact I love it so much I own a DVD.

The Clangers are pink, anteater type creatures that live on their own planet in space. They have some
friends whom aren't clangers, but are just as cool, such as the Soup Dragon and Froglets. They live in
small rock caves and speak with a slid whistle sound, I guess they are the original Fraggle Rock.

If you have never heard of the Clangers before then SHAME ON YOU, but if you have and didn't like them
then I am honestly surprised. The whole show was based around music and sound; like any good kids
show should be. It's different, maybe a bit bizarre, but total fun, what's not to like?

I have found a really great fan site which I have linked below. It's great if you wish to know more about
the soft, fun creatures.

01/11/07 19:27 - Bonzer Entry - Seth MarFarlane

In short, Seth is the creator of Family Guy and American Dad. If you haven't heard of either of
these shows then it's time you came out from under that rock and visited the links below. However,
you need to have a brood sense of humour to make it to the end of an episode without being offended. If
you like crass, rude, intelligent, dark humour or you're a South Park fan then this should be your thing...
not that South Park is intelligent in any way, so think of it as South Park but with a higher IQ.

Seth does most of the voices in both series, my favourite being his voice for Brian the dog in Family
Guy, he worked hard on perfecting Brian...he uses his own voice. But I must express that Seth has a great
voice, I could listen to him talk for hours, or even better, listen to him sing. Yep Seth sings and my god
can he sing, he has a great appreciation for music, particularly Jazz (right up my street) and even managed
to get a live orchestra to compose and record music for American Dad and Family Guy every week. How many
shows still do that?

So to the untrained eye he and his shows may come across as 'dumbed' down, late night cartoons. But don't
be fooled with Seth there is more then meets the eye.

02/12/07 19:27 - Bonzer Entry - Fight Club

This movie is right up there with Léon, it's one of those rare movies that I wish I had written.
Fight Club is a famous 'movie for men', which I think is about right; I have only met one other woman
who enjoyed this movie and that is my mother. I also find it very hard to find a man that doesn't
like this film.

In short it's about Jack and his psychological struggle with Tyler to find out who he is and what he
doesn't want to be. Tyler needs to rescue Jack and deliver him from Swedish furniture, clever art, clear
skin and perfect teeth, or in another word, evil. May he never been complete, content or perfect, he just
wants you to hit him as hard as you can. For all of that to make perfect sense I recommend you watch this
movie, you may just learn something about yourself.
